About Taiwan

  Spring, March to May (about 15~25℃), Summer, June to August (about 30~38℃), Autumn, September to November (about 20~28℃), Winter, December to February (about 15~20℃). The Climate in Taiwan is at times wet and humid. In Spring the sky is generally clear. High chances of typhoons passing by during Summer and Autumn. The highest temperature in Summer can reach to 38℃. Often windy and lots of rain in the winter and the temperature can be around 10℃.

  Rice and noodle are the principal food, especially snacks of all types are affordable and delicious.
‧Currency
  NT Dollar(NT$) including value of $2000, $1000, $500, $200, $100 and coin of $50, $10, $5 and $1.

‧ Food
 

Many restaurants can be found in Roosevelt Road, Nanchang Street, Fuchou Street, Hoping E. Road. An example of menus available:

  1. lunch box (with noodles or rice) : chicken leg, pork rib, beef, goose (with noodles/rice) and others, average individual cost is above NT$70.
  2. Snack category: dumplings, Tempura, thick pork soup, meat balls, pork balls, 3-assorted balls, Fuchou meat balls, ravioli, dessert… etc. Average individual cost is above NT$40.
  3. Fast food stores: McDonald (on Roosevelt Road and Nanchang Street), Mos burger (on Nanchang Street), average individual cost is about NT$80-150. Napoly Pizza: Nanchang Street, general individual cost is around NT$69-319.
  4. Vegetarian food (on Nanchang Street): average individual cost is about NT$100.
‧ Clothing
  The temperature difference between day and night in Taiwan might be large, especially in Spring & Fall, recommended clothing is as follows:
Spring: around March, April and May, generally short/long -sleeved shirt with a jacket or overcoat.
Summer: around June, July and August, thin short-sleeved shirt.
Fall: around September, October and November, short/long-sleeved shirt, with a jacket or overcoat.
Winter: around December, January, February, thick long-sleeved shirt, with sweater and with thick overcoat.
‧Housing
 

The private lease sharing part needs to be arranged by the student and the following information is for reference:
Small room
, above 72 square feet per room, monthly rental is above $5,000, determined by size.
Monthly rental of suite (1 room) is above $7,500. Monthly rental of apartment for a household is generally above $12,000, determined by size and equipments such as air conditioner, refrigerator, telephone…etc.
* All the above lease categories require a lease deposit in addition to the monthly rental for about 1~2 months which will be refunded when moving out.
